Goronto, May 24, 2025, students from the Geography Education Program, Department of ITK, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo conducted a Soil Geography practicum in Ionuo Village, Tilongkabila District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. The activity was guided by Dr. Nurfaika S. Si., M. Sc and Rusiyah M.Pd, the course instructors, along with several laboratory assistants.

The purpose of this practicum was to provide students with direct experience in studying various aspects of soil geography, including soil characteristics, classification, and relevant analytical techniques in the field. Students were given the opportunity to apply the theory learned in class to real-world situations and interact directly with the surrounding natural environment.

In addition to enhancing theoretical understanding, the practicum also strengthened the relationship between students and lecturers, providing deeper insights into the importance of soil studies in the context of geography. This activity not only enriched students' knowledge but also introduced them to the challenges of conducting field research in geography.

Through this practicum, students are expected to better understand the vital role of soil geography in regional development and sustainable natural resource management. The benefits of this practicum include improved theoretical and practical understanding, field analysis skills, data collection abilities, and the use of measurement tools necessary for geographic research. Furthermore, this practicum hones students' teamwork and communication skills, both verbal and written. It also offers insights into environmental issues and the sustainability of natural resources, preparing students to face challenges in the professional world, especially in the fields of geography and natural resource management.
