Boalemo, August 19, 2024 – Lecturers of the Geography Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) have once again shown their commitment to making a real contribution to the community through service activities at Boalemo State High School. This activity is part of a community service program that is integrated with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA) UNG, in an effort to improve the quality of geography education in the area.
The service took place on August 19, 2024, filled with various educational and inspirational activities involving students and teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Tilamuta and SMA Negeri 2 Tilamuta. Geography Education lecturers provided material on the importance of understanding geography in local and global contexts, as well as training on the use of simple geospatial technology that can be applied in daily learning, namely Landslide Disaster Mitigation and Environmental Conservation presented by Dr. Sunarty Suly Eraku, M.Pd, Spatial Analysis of the Environmental Carrying Capacity of Boalemo Regency presented by Dr. Eng. Sri Maryati, S.Si and the Utilization of ChatGPT in schoolwork presented by Asrul, S.Pd., M.Pd.
The synergy between Geography Education and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UNG is increasingly visible in this activity, where the support from the faculty allows the implementation of community service that is more effective and has a wide impact. This collaboration is one of the tools for the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, especially in community service. With the spirit of collaboration and service, Geography Education, FMIPA Universitas Negeri Gorontalo continues to be committed to being part of the solution in overcoming various educational challenges in Indonesia.
