Gorontalo — The Geography Education Study Program held a EDU-TALK GEO Webinar with the theme "Determining Geography Research Topics for S1 Students" on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. This activity was held as part of strengthening the academic capacity of students in designing research that is relevant, directed, and in accordance with the development of the latest geographical issues.

This webinar was attended by students and lecturers with enthusiasm, especially students who are preparing research proposals and final projects. In this activity, participants gained an understanding of the importance of choosing research topics as the first step that determines the quality and direction of a research. Topic determination is seen not only as an academic formality, but also as a scientific process that requires the ability to observe, analyze, and be sensitive to phenomena in the surrounding environment.

The webinar material discussed various strategies for finding geography research topics, ranging from the identification of environmental and social problems, the observation of spatial phenomena, the analysis of disaster issues, to the use of geospatial technology in research. Participants are also given an understanding of how to determine specific topics, have research urgency, and allow it to be studied scientifically according to the abilities and resources that students have.

Through this EDU-TALK GEO Webinar activity, the Geography Education Study Program hopes that students will be more prepared to design quality, innovative, and relevant research to scientific development. This activity is also part of the study program's commitment to building a productive, critical academic culture, and supporting the improvement of the quality of student research in the Geography Education environment.
