Gorontalo — The Geography Education Study Program held a EDU-TALK GEO Webinar with the theme "Optimizing NotebookLM as a Student Independent Learning Assistant" on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. This activity was held as part of strengthening digital literacy and the use of artificial intelligence-based technology in supporting the student learning process in the digital era.

The webinar material discusses various features of NotebookLM that students can use in their daily academic activities, such as summarizing the material, compiling important points from references, helping to understand scientific articles, and supporting the process of discussion and exploration of research ideas. The use of this technology is seen as important to increase the effectiveness of learning, especially in the face of many sources of information and increasingly complex academic demands.

In addition, participants were also given an understanding of the wise and responsible use of AI technology in the academic environment. Emphasis is given on the importance of maintaining academic integrity, critical thinking skills, and making technology a learning tool, not a substitute for students' thinking processes. Yes, technology does make things easier, but the quality of learning is still determined by how students use it intelligently and ethically.

Through this EDU-TALK GEO Webinar, the Geography Education Study Program hopes that students will be able to take advantage of the development of digital technology as a supporter of productive, innovative, and independent learning. This activity is also part of the study program's efforts to build an academic culture that is adaptive to technological developments and supports the improvement of student competencies in the era of digital transformation of education.
