Gorontalo — The Geography Education Study Program held a EDU-TALK GEO Webinar with the theme "Finding Ideas and Designing Research Topics in Geography Education" on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. This activity was held as part of an effort to improve students' academic abilities in compiling and designing research that is relevant, systematic, and in accordance with the development of educational and scientific issues of geography.
This webinar was attended by students and lecturers with high enthusiasm, especially students who are preparing research proposals and final projects. The theme raised is considered very important because one of the main challenges in the research process is to determine ideas and topics that are appropriate, actual, and have novelty value. In this activity, participants were given an understanding of strategies for finding research problems from educational and geographical phenomena that occur in the surrounding environment.

The webinar material discusses various sources of research ideas, ranging from field observation results, learning experiences, environmental issues, geospatial technology developments, to the results of previous research. Participants are also guided to understand how to identify research gaps, determine research focus, and develop specific and measurable topics. This approach is expected to help students design more targeted research and have a clear academic contribution.
Through the implementation of this EDU-TALK GEO Webinar, the Geography Education Study Program hopes that students will be able to improve their critical and creative thinking skills in designing research. This activity is also part of the study program's commitment to building a productive, innovative academic culture, and supporting the development of research that is relevant to the needs of education and the development of geography.
