Gorontalo, May 16, 2025, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) and PT Gorontalo Sejahtera Mining (PT GSM) signed a cooperation agreement aimed at conducting environmental monitoring, which includes social, cultural, and public health aspects, as well as the preparation of environmental monitoring reports for the first semester of 2025.
The Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Gorontalo, Prof. Dr. Fitryane Liwaha, M.Si., represented UNG, while PT Gorontalo Sejahtera Mining was represented by Mahesa Lugiana, the External Affairs division of the Pani Gold Project. This collaboration is based on a previously established agreement between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) UNG and PT GSM.
This collaboration is expected to strengthen environmental supervision, particularly regarding social and public health aspects in the areas surrounding PT GSM’s operational sites. The primary goal of this partnership is to ensure that the company’s activities remain in compliance with sustainability standards while considering social and environmental impacts.
With this collaboration, it is hoped that it will not only benefit PT GSM in carrying out its operations responsibly but also benefit the surrounding communities and the broader environment. This project stands as proof of the commitment of both parties to preserve nature while supporting economic development in the Gorontalo Province.
