Gorontalo, February 17, 2025 – The Geography Education Study Program of Gorontalo State University successfully held a Meteorology and Climatology Practicum for students of the class of 2024 on February 10-16, 2025. This activity aims to provide field experience to students in understanding the concept and dynamics of weather and climate directly. The practicum which lasted for a week was carried out in strategic locations that have diverse meteorological and climatological characteristics. Students are accompanied by Geography Lab assistants in conducting various weather measurements and analysis. Some of the main aspects studied in this practicum include the measurement of air temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed and direction, and rainfall.

In addition, students also get the opportunity to practice the use of meteorological tools such as thermometers, barometers, anemometers, and hygrometers. The processing of weather data obtained in the field is also part of learning to analyze weather and climate patterns in the Gorontalo area. With this practicum, it is hoped that students of the Geography Education Study Program of Gorontalo State University will be more prepared to understand and analyze atmospheric phenomena scientifically. Similar activities will continue to be developed so that students have superior competencies in the fields of meteorology and climatology.
