The Geography Laboratory of the Department of Earth Science and Technology (ITK), Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG), welcomed a special visit from the students of Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu (SD IT) Al Izzah Pohuwato on Wednesday (15/05/2025).
This educational visit was part of the "Study Tour" program initiated by SD IT Al Izzah to provide students with hands-on learning experiences outside the classroom, particularly in the fields of earth science and geography. Around 45 fourth-grade students, accompanied by their teachers, were warmly received by lecturers and laboratory staff of the ITK Department, FMIPA UNG.
The visit was officially opened by Ms. Masruroh, M.Pd., Coordinator of the Geography Education Study Program, along with Mr. Moh. Khamal Salote, S.Pd., M.Si., representing the Head of the Geography Laboratory at UNG. “We are very pleased to welcome this first visit from the students of SD IT Al Izzah Pohuwato. We hope this visit provides them with valuable insights and new experiences in the fascinating world of geography,” said Ms. Masruroh.
During the visit, the students were introduced to various laboratory tools such as GPS devices, geological compasses, thematic maps, and several simulations related to geographic science. The activities were designed to be interactive and tailored to the age and needs of elementary school students. The visit concluded with a group photo session and the presentation of a souvenir from the school to the ITK Department of FMIPA UNG as a token of appreciation for the warm welcome and educational experience provided.
Through this activity, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo reaffirmed its commitment as an inclusive higher education institution actively supporting primary education and promoting scientific literacy among the younger generation
